Unmasking African Women's Stories
An exhibition of renowned Kenyan painter Sammy Lutaya occurred on November 15-24 at European Museum of Modern Art. The event was organized by Ocin gallery ✓paintings are still on sale!
Sammy Lutaya was present to share with attendees his career and the inspiration behind this collection.
His speech for the opening ceremony: "My path through art has been one of discovery, healing and connection. African women have always captivated me, because I lost my mother at the age of 4 and with art I can reimagine her essence, who she was and who she could have become. Each brushstroke, each creation is a dialogue with her and with the spirit of the African woman. The African woman is an enigma, full of beauty, strength, tenderness and resilience."
